HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — With the threat of worsening drought conditions across Alabama, the Alabama Forestry Commission has issued a Fire Danger Advisory

The advisory will remain in place until there is enough precipitation and the drought conditions improve.

When a Fire Danger Advisory is issued, the fuel is more conducive to starting and spreading wildfires easily.

The lack of rainfall and abnormally warm conditions have allowed for dry fuels to accumulate on the ground. Any small spark or ember could easily ignite and spread quickly, especially on windy days.

The AFC says that it is important to be situationally aware, as driving vehicles into tall grass, as well as equipment use such as bush-hogging, hay baling, or mulching, can spark ignition.
