The rainfall in the week between September 16 and September 23 was either a lot or nothing across areas of Michigan. Across our entire state the drought worsened overall, but was reduced in a few key locations.

Here’s the current drought status as of last Tuesday, September 23. A new ranking will be released this Thursday, based on today’s conditions..

The severe drought conditions, in orange, continue from Mount Pleasant to Midland to Bay City and Saginaw to western Huron County. There is still a small area of severe drought west of Grand Rapids, around the Holland area.

The comparison from September 16 to September 23 shows Grand Rapids and Kent County is now out of severe drought, but still in moderate drought. Moderate drought expanded southwest from the Flint area to around Lansing
