GRAND BLANC TWP, MI - In the wake of one of the darkest day Grand Blanc Township has ever faced, the leader of the local Latter-day Saints congregation says the community’s response has been nothing short of overwhelming.

“I know the people around the world are praying for our ward and our families and I am so grateful for that,” Bishop Jeffrey Schaub said in a v ideo statement .

On Sunday morning, Sept. 28, authorities said a gunman opened fire during services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, then set the building on fire. Four people were killed and eight injured.

Police have said Thomas Jacob Sanford , 40, of Burton, was responsible for the act.
