WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump on Tuesday was joined by Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla to announce that the pharmaceutical giant is committing to lowering the price of its prescription medications for those on Medicaid as part of his broader push to ensure Americans are not paying more for drugs than those in other countries.

As part of the commitment, Pfizer will offer its prescription drugs to Medicaid at a price that aligns with the standards Trump laid out in an executive order in May , an effort he’s branded the "most favored nations" policy . Under the policy, drugs are supposed to be sold in the U.S. at the same cost as the developed nation that pays the lowest price for the same medication.
