YORK — Virginia State Police have renewed a plea for the public’s help as authorities seek any information pertaining to the death of a woman who was found fatally shot on Interstate 64 last week.

Police said Tuesday that a 54-year-old Gloucester woman — who still has not been identified — was driving eastbound in a blue Honda CR-V on I-64 when she ran off the interstate and hit a guardrail. She was found at about 6 p.m. Sept. 24 between the 242 and 243 mile markers, near Busch Gardens. She was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center, where she died.

Authorities are asking for anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity or heard gunshots near where the Honda CR-V was found to email questions@vsp.virginia.gov or call 804-750-8789. This includes the area near the Humelsine Parkway-M
