QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Citi Field may not be hosting playoff games for Mets fans this fall, but Steve Cohen and Hard Rock just got a big win for the future of Flushing.

The Metropolitan Park casino proposal was unanimously approved by its Community Advisory Committee on Tuesday morning. The $8 billion privately funded project will now advance in front of the Gaming Facility Location Board for the next round of approval.

Last week, Resorts World's proposal for expanding to live tables and table games was approved by its CAC.

Coehn's project was the final proposal to be voted on out of eight. Four proposals were shut down by committees: The Avenir, Caesars Palace Times Square, Freedom Plaza and The Coney.
