**Title: Thirteen Arrested in Gang-Related Killing of Innocent Woman**
Police in Quebec and Ontario have arrested 13 individuals in connection with the murder of Jennifer Morin, a 45-year-old woman who was mistakenly killed in December 2024. Authorities believe she was targeted due to her son’s involvement in a notorious gang. The arrested individuals, ranging in age from 18 to 51, include both men and women. Six of them are scheduled to appear in court later today to face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Captain Marie-Manon Savard of the Quebec City police department confirmed that the arrests were linked to Morin's homicide. She stated that the killing was a case of mistaken identity, as the alleged assailants were actually aiming for her son, Jeffrey Morin, a member of the Blood Family Mafia gang.
The operation, led by Quebec City police, involved over 200 officers from various law enforcement agencies, including the Ontario Provincial Police. The police targeted 14 locations during the operation, which is considered one of the largest in the history of the Quebec City police force. Raids were conducted in Montreal, including an apartment building in the Lachine borough. One suspect was apprehended at the Quebec City detention center, where they were already being held.
The Blood Family Mafia has been involved in a violent power struggle with the Hells Angels for control of drug markets in and around Quebec City. This conflict has resulted in numerous violent incidents, including several killings. Around the time of his mother’s death, Jeffrey Morin was reportedly dealing cocaine. He pleaded guilty to drug and weapons trafficking charges in July and was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison. During that period, an undercover investigator was purchasing cocaine and semi-automatic weapons from him.
Following his mother’s murder, Jeffrey Morin informed the investigator that he would be delayed in delivering a drug shipment due to her death. Captain Savard emphasized the extensive nature of the investigation, stating, "It's an extremely vast police operation, it's an investigation that includes an enormous amount of analysis that led to today's raids."
