INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts poached a linebacker from the Cowboys on Monday.

Indianapolis signed veteran Buddy Johnson off the Dallas practice squad, a source confirmed to IndyStar on Tuesday, adding a player who has made most of his impact in the NFL on special teams.

Drafted in the fourth round by Pittsburgh in 2021, Johnson has played just 13 defensive snaps in five NFL seasons, bouncing around to the Steelers, 49ers, Texans and Bears before landing with the Cowboys last season.

Johnson played 325 snaps in the kicking game for the Cowboys last season, and he’d played 18 in one game for Dallas this season before Indianap
