Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched through streets in the Niagara Falls tourist core Saturday, which Niagara Regional Police described as “disruptive at times, but overall managed without escalation, or significant safety incidents.”

Participants waved Palestinian flags, released coloured smoke flares and chanted slogans, including anti-Israel rhetoric that caused ire with some on social media.

Some social-media posts criticized the rally, particularly some of the messaging and for disrupting the city’s tourist core, which attracts millions of visitors annually.

Online videos show people protesting on Clifton Hill and Niagara Parkway. In one video, people can be seen on a pedestrian bridge, surrounded by smoke.
