BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Leaders are reacting to Governor Landry’s request for the National Guard to be activated across Louisiana.
The governor made the announcement Monday night, September 29, and said he sent a letter to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, asking for the deployment of up to 1,000 National Guard members.

While specific details about where the guard would be deployed were not provided, Governor Landry mentioned that Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport are facing elevated crime rates.
