The attorneys for Dr. Ian Roberts, the Des Moines Public Schools superintendent who was arrested last week by immigration authorities, held a news conference Tuesday in which they announced Roberts will step down from his role.

Roberts will resign his position in a letter to the school board. A motion to reopen his immigration case will be filed Tuesday, according to his attorneys.
