The Intercounty Baseball League has added a second exclamation point to a remarkable season that saw the Welland Jackfish win the pennant for the third year in a row and capture their second championship in three years.
A week after Welland’s Brian Essery was singled out for praise as manager of the year, Jackfish general manager Jason McKay was named the top executive for 2025, receiving the David E. Hastings Trophy.
The prestigious award, which team president and majority owner Ryan Harrison won in 2019 after the franchise’s inaugural season in Welland, is presented annually, but the seeds for this season’s success were planted long before opening day in May.
