PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Text messages between U.S. President Donald Trump and Oregon Governor Tina Kotek this weekend show there is widespread confusion over what has been happening outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland.

“The ICE Facility in Portland was attacked again last night. In fact, it, and other Federal Buildings, are being attacked on a nightly basis,” the president said in a text to the governor Saturday morning.

“We can’t have this. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he said.

Messages obtained through a records request by KOIN 6 News show that the Governor said she would try calling him later and his assistant thanked her. But in the next message Gov. Kotek said she had just learned that troops had been called to Portland.
