OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — On Tuesday, Ryan Walters sent a letter to parents and guardians as he prepares to depart from his role as State Superintendent and begin his new position as the CEO of the Teacher Freedom Alliance on October 1.

On Wednesday night, September 24, Walters appeared in an interview on Fox News and announced that he would be resigning from his role as State Superintendent; however, up until this point, no formal resignation had been submitted.

Once Walters' resignation is submitted, Governor Kevin Stitt will appoint a replacement to take over his duties. The candidate would then fill the position into the end of Walters' term in January 2027. A potential candidate has not yet been named.
