BUFFALO, N.Y. — A West Seneca man pleaded guilty to a fatal hit and run crash in Buffalo last year.

Samuel Baer, 44, of West Seneca, pleaded guilty Monday afternoon in Erie County Court to one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Death.

Investigators say the victim, Joseph W. Domnissey, 59 fell while he was crossing Elmwood Avenue between Hertel and Hinman avenues on September 25, 2024. A Good Samaritan who was stopped at a traffic light, got out of his vehicle to help Domnissey and stop oncoming traffic.

Police say Baer was driving his pickup truck south on Elmwood Avenue when he drove through the green light and hit Domnissey in the roadway. He then veered into the northbound lanes and onto a grass-coverage lot before he continue driving south on Elmwood.
