ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (WFLA) — A moped driver was killed Monday night after falling to the ground during a crash in Pasco County and then being run over by a woman in a pickup truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the woman, who was in an older model black Chevrolet pickup truck, drove off after the crash. The incident happened just before 9 p.m. on State Road 54, near Lamar Road.

A 55-year-old Zephyrhills man was driving his moped east on State Road 54 when he hit a pedestrian, according to officials. The moped driver was thrown from his vehicle and ran over by the Chevrolet pickup truck, authorities said.

Troopers said the moped driver died at the scene. The pedestrian fell to the ground but survived the crash, according to officials.
