NEOSHO, Mo. — Newton County Sheriff Matt Stewart said Tuesday his office has changed the way it patrols the county to put more officers on the roads.

In a statement Tuesday, Stewart said he changed the way the department divides the county so instead of patrolling just two beats — southern and northern Newton County — deputies are patrolling three beats, a southern and a northern beat, both west of Highways 59 and 60, and one beat now east of Highways 59 and 60. ×
