AUCKLAND, New Zealand – New Zealand law enforcement officials have reported that FBI Director Kash Patel gifted them plastic 3D-printed replica pistols during his July visit. These replicas are illegal under New Zealand’s strict gun laws.

Despite the pistols being non-functional, New Zealand’s regulations impose restrictions on ownership and potential modification of such items, requiring them to be destroyed.

The visit marked the opening of the FBI’s first standalone office in New Zealand. The FBI has yet to provide an official statement regarding the incident.

New Zealand authorities emphasized the need to adhere to local laws, regardless of the pistols’ non-operational status.
