ROME, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A section of Route 46, a road often traveled by Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, now officially represents his legacy.
A highway sign dedication was unveiled at the intersection of Prospect Street and Black River Boulevard on Tuesday, September 30.
29-year-old Jensen, a Rome native, was shot and killed in the line of duty after responding to a standoff in Salina in April 2024.
Family members, friends, first responders and New York State lawmakers came together to support the Jensen family and honor the roots of a fallen hero.
Michelle Jensen spoke of her son's love for the road, which he took to travel, fish, and make memories that would last beyond his lifetime.
