COLLEGE PARK — Among the reasons David Coit entertained for transferring to Maryland men’s basketball from Kansas, the presence of a basketball-only facility was not one of them.
Then the Barry P. Gossett Performance Center opened Sept. 2 next to the Xfinity Center, and Coit understood he made the right decision.
“I didn’t even know until probably a week before it was done,” the graduate student point guard said. “I was so locked in, I didn’t even know. When I was transferring, I was just focused on a great coaching staff, great fit, obviously play at a high level, and with [coach] Buzz [Williams] coming in here, I didn’t know [anything] about this facility. I was just coming to play. And then once I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, wow, it’s crazy.’”
