WEBSTER, Mass. (WPRI) — The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the disappearance of a 4-year-old Webster boy 47 years ago.
Andrew "Andy" Amato was first reported missing by his mother on September 30, 1978. He was last seen by his 7-year-old sister and 5-year-old cousin earlier that day in the woods near the Ash Street Trailer Park.
The children were walking along a trail near Route 52, which is now known as I-395, when Amato stumbled and dropped his toy near a brook, according to the FBI.
Amato refused to head back home without his toy, so his sister and cousin reportedly went to find someone to assist them in the trailer park, which is where the trio lived.
