Two Houston city councilmembers are urging authorities to release crucial background information about recently discovered bodies found in Houston bayous, in an effort to dispel fear and suspicion about a potential connection.

The calls for additional details come after six bodies were recently recovered from Houston bayous within the span of two weeks, stirring unsubstantiated theories online that drew the ire of Mayor John Whitmire and police department leaders. The Houston Police Department has remained mum on details about the circumstances of the deaths as the investigations remain ongoing, but Whitmire and police continue to refute rumors that a serial killer may be on the loose.
