CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Hurricane Humberto, once a Category 5 storm, has weakened to a Category 1 hurricane as it moves northeast, narrowly missing Bermuda. Meanwhile, Hurricane Imelda is predicted to hit Bermuda by October 1, posing a threat to the island.
Hurricane Humberto reached Category 5 status with winds of 160 mph on September 26 and was the second major hurricane of the season in the Atlantic, but it has since weakened. It is currently moving offshore from the U.S. and is expected to weaken further by Wednesday. Hurricane Imelda, a Category 1 storm, is currently east of Florida and the Carolinas, and its path has shifted due to the Fujiwhara Effect.
