Vassar College has turned to upstate product Carly Assimon to take over a Brewers women's basketball program that has competed in the past two NCAA Division III tournaments.

Assimon played high school ball at Fayetteville-Manlius and four seasons at fellow Liberty League member Clarkson University, where she served as a team captain. Since her graduation in 2021, she was an assistant coach at her alma mater in 2021-23 (even serving seven games as interim head coach of the Golden Knights), at SUNY Cortland in 2023-24 and the University of Rochester in 2024-25.

"I am truly honored to be named the next coach of the Vassar College women's basketball program,'' Assimon said.
