LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo Sector Border Patrol, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), apprehended seven undocumented immigrants and a driver during a human smuggling attempt on September 24.

The incident started when DPS received an alert about a vehicle that might be transporting individuals who had just entered the U.S. illegally near the Rio Grande.

After a bailout, agents from both the Border Patrol and DPS arrested the driver, along with seven illegal immigrants who were in the country illegally.

All seven illegals are facing improper entry charges will receive a fine of $5,000, while the driver will be charged with felony alien smuggling.
