WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW) – Andrew Showers, the Madison priest charged with multiple child sex crimes , made his initial appearance in Waupaca County court on Tuesday. Showers is charged with:

Attempted use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime

Attempted child enticement-exposing intimate parts

Attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child

Prosecutors said Showers was explicitly messaging a person on Reddit whom he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. He arranged to meet her at a park in Clintonville on August 24, but when Showers arrived at the park that day, he found Clintonville police. Authorities say an undercover officer had been posing as the fictitious 14-year-old.
