RIESEL, Texas (KWTX) - The Falls County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Dept. of Public Safety are investigating a head-on collision involving an 18-wheeler and a wrong-way driver that left two people dead.

The fiery wreck was reported at about 12:45 p.m. on Highway 6 near CR-105.

The sheriff’s office initially described it as a “major accident with multiple fatalities.”

According to DPS, a preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the passenger car was traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with the 18-wheeler.

The semi-trailer overturned, and the passenger car became fully engulfed in flames, DPS said.

Two people in the passenger car died, DPS said. The driver of the 18-wheeler sustained minor injuries.
