WATERBURY, Conn. — A jury found a Waterbury man guilty Tuesday of the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old from July 2022.

Frankie DeJesus, 28, of Waterbury, was found guilty of murder, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice.

The deadly shooting of 18-year-old William Beltran happened on Willow Street in Waterbury on July 20, 2022, according to the DCJ.

Waterbury police apprehended DeJesus on July 25, 2022 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. The DCJ noted that he is a previously convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The jury made their conclusion based on witness testimony, along with scientific and cell phone evidence at the trial, according to the DCJ.

DeJesus' sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 16 in New Haven Superior Court.
