ELMORE COUNTY, Idaho — The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes announced Tuesday their Business Council has approved an application to the U.S. Department of the Interior to develop a tribal resort and casino .
The Shoshone-Paiute Business Council approved a resolution allowing the tribes to apply for the land to be taken into trust for tribal gaming purposes, tribal officials announced. The application would dedicate 40 acres of unused land in Elmore County to space for tribal gaming.
"This is a historic moment for the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes," Chairman Brian Mason said in a statement. "This milestone has been in the making for generations."
