A Wollongong teacher has told Nowra Local Court he was reminiscing about someone he had met overseas when he collided with a motorbike carrying two people in Kangaroo Valley.
Antoon Jeroom Janssens, 58, of Wollongong, pleaded guilty to negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm over the June 2024 crash when he faced court on Tuesday, September 30.
Defence lawyer Renata Matyear said Janssens expressed genuine remorse for the incident and the injuries caused to the victims.
She told the court that Janssens, who was born in Belgium, had travelled to Europe a month before the crash and had become confused about road directions.
Police papers tendered to the court said the collision occurred about 10pm on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
