Dallas Love Field is set for a major overhaul. Plans are underway for a dramatic transformation of the airport, located seven miles north of downtown Dallas.

The project comes nearly a decade after the completion of a new passenger terminal at Love. “I get a lot of ‘We just did this. We just built a new airport,’” said Director of Aviation Patrick Carreno.

Since the easing of federal restrictions on flights from Love Field in 2014, traffic has boomed. The airport handled roughly 8.5 million passengers that year. The number swelled to 18 million in 2024. “I don’t think anybody realized how many people would use this facility,” Carreno said.
