SPOKANE, Wash. – Fire restrictions on lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Bureau of Reclamation were lifted on Tuesday. This change was due, in part, to wet conditions and cooler temperatures, which have reduced fire danger.

BLM officials emphasized the need for continued caution when driving on roads or trails with tall grass or significant vegetation. They added that fireworks or any kind of explosives remain prohibited on federal public lands, and that campfires must be extinguished and cold before leaving a camping area.

The Oregon/Washington BLM Fire Prevention Order prohibits the use of tracer or incendiary ammunition and exploding or metal targets on public lands. This order is in effect until October 31, but may be rescinded earlier, BLM officials noted
