MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The Red Sox took a 1-0 series lead over the Yankees Tuesday in their A.L. Wild Card series at Yankee Stadium, beating New York, 3-1.

Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet dominated in his first career playoff start, pitching 7.2 innings, striking out 11, allowing just 4 hits, 1 run, and no walks. Crochet had a career-high 117 pitches.

Boston fell behind 1-0 in the 2 nd inning after a home run by New York's Anthony Volpe.

In the 7 th inning, pinch hitter Masataka Yoshida drove in two runs on a single to give the Red Sox their first lead of the night.
