CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A large turnout gathered Sunday as the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of North Carolina hosted its annual Durga Puja celebration at West Cary Middle School.

More than 1,300 people were in attendance, including Morrisville Mayor TJ Cawley.

The celebration, which honors the Divine Mother, exceeded its registration goal and served prasad (lunch) to all who came.

Cawley commended the society for bringing together people of all faiths in devotion and unity.

The event featured worship and music led by priest Shri Pravin Shukla ji, devotional songs by the Vedanta Choir, and offerings from children of the Vedanta School.
