SPOKANE, Wash. – The Safe and Healthy Spokane Task Force is a county-wide initiative bringing together nonprofit, private and public leaders.

These groups were all represented at the Task Force’s a press conference on Tuesday. There, the County Commissioners’ Office, the County Sheriff, Mayor Lisa Brown, city leaders, business partners and the Waters Meet Foundation were present. Behavioral health services and organizations supporting Indigenous groups are also on the Task Force.

The main message was unity and collaboration to drive change.

While no specific recommendations were made, Mayor Brown shared that the group has agreed to expand access to behavioral health and recovery services.

They also aim to staff essential services like the jail.
