QUÉBEC — Patrik Laine and Alexandre Carrier scored second-period goals two minutes and 41 seconds apart to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-0 NHL pre-season victory over the Ottawa Senators at the Videotron Centre on Tuesday night.
Oliver Kapanen, Lane Hutson and Kirby Dach also scored for the Canadiens, who led 1-0 after the first period and 3-0 heading into the third. Brendan Gallagher chipped in with three assists, while Alex Newhook and Ivan Demidov added two helpers apiece.
Jakub Dobes posted the shutout for the Canadiens, who went 3-for-7 on the power play. The Senators went 0-for-2 with the man advantage. Final shot totals were not available at the conclusion of the game.
In a later game Tuesday, the Winnipeg Jets played the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
