SHREVEPORT, La. — A man shot and killed late Monday in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood has been identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Gerald D. Washington, 56, was found slumped inside a vehicle at the intersection of Egan Street and Gilbert Avenue around 11:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Washington’s death marks the 30th homicide in Shreveport so far in 2025 and the 35th such death in Caddo Parish during the same period.

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating the shooting. Authorities have not released any details regarding a motive or potential suspects.
