LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. (WDEF) – Lookout Mountain Flight Park, a destination for gliders from across the world, turned into the scene of a heartbreaking accident today.

Two experienced hang gliders were killed after a tandem jump went tragically wrong.

News 12’s Lillian Yi spoke with Alex Case, director of Dade County Emergency Services, who recounted the difficult day.

Case explained, “Today we had two hang gliders. We were here at the Lookout Mountain. Hang launch off and two hangers hang gliders ended up doing a tandem jump off the launch pad here behind us. Something happening with her. I am not sure what happened yet. It is still on their investigations. I am sure they did fall below was here off the mounting onto the ground and both of them were pronounced dead on the scene.”
