NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee farmers are warning they are on the verge of financial collapse, citing soaring input costs, poor crop prices and volatile global trade.

This week, State Rep. Rusty Grills (R-Newbern) sent a letter to President Donald Trump and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins urging emergency relief. He called the situation "a crisis not seen in decades," and said family farms across Tennessee risk vanishing without federal intervention.

Lee Maddox, director of communications for the Tennessee Farm Bureau, echoed that warning.

"It really is tough right now," he said. "It is on the verge of crisis."
