A demolition permit for the Morley Market site has been issued after the devastating fire that ripped through the decades-old shopping centre at the beginning of the month.
The permit for the works was received on Friday and the works are expected to begin as soon as this week.
The demolition itself is expected to take two to three days, with a further three to four weeks to clear the debris and complete a full site clean-up.
It is business as usual outside the fire-damaged site and people are encouraged continue to support these surrounding businesses.
Fundraising events, such as by Big Don Smoked Meats , are open if people would like to donate money to the businesses owners affected by the fires.
There is no update yet about what the future plans are for the site.
