PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested this week in connection with a 2010 Phoenix homicide, authorities said.

On Sept. 5, 2010, around 6 a.m. Walter Zimmer, 69, was found dead at a bus stop near 51st Avenue and Thomas Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department. Police said Zimmer had obvious signs of injury.

On Monday, 35-year-old Edgar Mendoza was brought in and questioned by Phoenix police regarding Zimmer’s death and Mendoza allegedly admitted to the murder.

How was Mendoza connected to the Phoenix homicide?

Police said that although detectives at the time of Zimmer’s death were unable to locate witnesses or surveillance video, they did collect physical evidence from the scene.
