Independent Funding Ensures Post Offices and Delivery Services Remain Unaffected
As Congress faces the possibility of a federal government shutdown, the U.S. Postal Service says its operations will continue uninterrupted.
Unlike many federal agencies that rely on appropriations from Congress, the Postal Service runs independently and is funded by revenue from postage, retail sales, and other services. That structure means it will keep delivering mail and packages even if lawmakers fail to reach a budget deal.
The agency stressed that customers should expect no disruption to regular service, regardless of shutdown outcomes in Washington, in a quote posted on the agency’s website.
“U.S. Postal Service operations will not be interrupted in the event of a government shutdown, and all Post
