The U.S. has been thrust into a government shutdown, facing a new wave of uncertainty as President Donald Trump and Congress failed to reach an agreement to keep government programmes and services operational by Wednesday's deadline. ‌

Approximately 750,000 federal workers are predicted to be furloughed, with some potentially being dismissed by the Trump administration. Numerous offices will be closed, possibly permanently, as Trump pledges to "do things that are irreversible, that are bad" in retaliation. ‌

His deportation agenda is expected to proceed at full throttle, while education, environmental and other services falter. The economic repercussions are anticipated to spread nationwide. ‌
