The AFL has finally scrapped the bounce , and it’s irrefutably the right decision from an umpiring safety and promotion perspective.

But crucially, it’s set to change the unpredictability factor at centre bounces massively — and not everybody’s happy about that.

From being the catalyst for health issues to impeding pathway progression for up-and-coming officiators, it was considered by many to be past time for the long-honoured tradition to be eradicated.
