Incoming rains later this week could put an end to a dry spell that has plunged portions of the New Orleans metro into drought, but cooler fall weather isn't quite on its way yet.
A new front is expected to allow moisture from the Gulf to move into south Louisiana later this week, bringing decent chances for rain across much of the region on Saturday and Sunday in particular, National Weather Service meteorologist Tyler Stanfield said Wednesday.
But most areas won't see more than 1-2 inches of rain at most, according to Stanfield. Temperatures aren't expected to budge much either, with daytime heat indices, or "feels-like" temperatures, expected to continue reaching the low- to mid-90s through much of the weekend.
