Sito Alonso officially took over the senior national team of Latvia, heading to the Qualifiers of the FIBA World Cup 2027.

On Wednesday, he named the members of his staff in Roberts Stelmahers, Arturs Visockis-Rubenis, and Davis Coders. Kaspars Vecvagars also entered the coaching team.

“I wanted those on the coaching staff to have worked with my predecessor, Luca Banchi, in recent years,” the 49-year-old Spanish tactician commented on his selections.

With the decision of the Latvian Basketball Association, LBS, revealed following EuroBasket 2025 , Alonso was expected to replace Banchi.
