Here is a list of things I know about my friends: what makes them orgasm, what absolutely does not, if they watch porn (and if they do, what type), how they really feel about their partners, what they talk about in therapy, their medical history, their dietary requirements, their bra size, and in several cases, how they would dispose of a body if they needed to.

But do you know what I don’t know? What their income is, or what their net worth may be. I don’t know if they are in debt, or to whom, or what their credit score is. It seems odd, doesn’t it? I can tell you which friends have had chlamydia, but I have no clue which tax bracket they are in.

Thinking about it, this is also true of close family members. I can tell you the name of every medication my parents take but couldn’t tell
