LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - October 1 marks the start of archery deer hunting season in Michigan.
According to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), hunting is allowed on public lands, and hunters also have access to certain private properties through the DNR’s Hunter Access Program , which identifies landowners who permit hunting on their land.
Outside of Michigan’s firearms deer hunting season, the DNR emphasizes that archery plays a crucial role in managing the state’s deer population.
The archery season runs from October 1 through November 14, and then reopens on December 1.
All hunters are required to carry a valid hunting license while in the field.
