There isn't a lot of room for subtlety in a "Tron" movie.

The third and newest film in the series, "Tron: Ares," opens Oct. 10. In it, the villain is unsubtly named Julian Dillinger. He is a corporate CEO who has created military artificial intelligence beings, put them in humanoid bodies and unleashed them to go to war against our world.

In a 19th century melodrama, he'd be twirling a big mustache and tying women to railroad lines. In the 21st century, though, the role is harder.

Dillinger is played by Evan Peters, an Emmy Award-winning actor originally from Ballwin. In a Zoom interview, he said director Joachim Rønning encouraged him to try a number of different nuances for each shot.
