Hurricane Humberto is generating dangerous surf and rip currents that will persist along the western Atlantic coastline throughout the week.

As of the 5 a.m. advisory, the NHC said Humberto is moving northeast at about 14 mph and is located approximately 280 miles north-northwest of Bermuda.

Humberto has maximum sustained winds of nearly 80 mph and a minimum central pressure of 979 mb. It has been downgraded to a Category 1 storm.

A faster movement toward the east-northeast is expected today until the system merges with a developing frontal boundary tonight.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
